Chosen Charities

Philip Dennis Foodservice is proud to support local charities at each of its depots.

Our South West Depots are proud to support the North Devon Hospice

Philip Dennis Foodservice has named North Devon Hospice as their Charity of the Year for its South West Depots. Having supported the hospice in many ways for a number of years, such as sponsoring the charity’s annual Big Breakfast event, it was the first-hand experience of a member of staff that made the company commit to a year-long campaign of fundraising.

“Without the hospice, we’d have been lost,” said Phil Dunn, who is Butchery Manager at the Roundswell depot of Philip Dennis Foodservice. “When the company asked for suggestions for our Charity of the Year, I shared my story because North Devon Hospice had an incredible impact on my family.”

Our Midlands Depot is proud to support Marie Curie

Philip Dennis Foodservice has named Marie Curie as their Charity of the Year for its Midlands Depot. Every five minutes, someone in the UK dies without getting the care and support they need at the end of their life. The money raised will help Marie Curie be there for more people living with a terminal illness. The charity provides practical information and support, funds research and campaigns for more people to have access to high quality, personalised care wherever and whenever they need it.

Steve Redding, Account Manager at the Midlands Depot has said “We chose this charity collectively at the Philip Dennis Foodservice Midlands Depot as we know that most people can relate to the good job hospices do around the country. I have experienced the great work they do through the recent death of my father in law at a hospice in Shrewsbury, I found out how they have to fund around 50% of their budgets themselves and we wanted to try to offer some help.”

Our Oxford Depot is proud to support Helen & Douglas House

Philip Dennis Foodservice has named Helen & Douglas House as their Charity of the Year for its Oxford Depot. Helen & Douglas House cares for local terminally ill children and their families at its hospice in Oxford and at home. They provide medical, emotional and practical support, helping families deal with the implications of living with a child who will die prematurely, so they can make the most of their time together.

Alison Hooker from Helen & Douglas House said “I would like to say a huge thank you to Philip Dennis Foodservice for choosing us as their charity of the year. We need to raise £3m a year to help local families cope with having a terminally child and we cannot do this without wonderful companies like this choosing us as their charity of the year.”
