Working Towards A Greener Future

Philip Dennis Foodservice is committed to reducing its environmental impact and is working with our suppliers and customer for a sustainable future.

We understand the need to protect our natural resources and ecosystems whilst minimising our impact on the environment.

Here are some of the ways we are working to a greener future...

Recycling

We recycle over 150 tonnes each year including plastics, cardboard and polystyrene and we are encouraging suppliers to actively reduce their use of plastics and packaging wherever possible.  We are also constantly reviewing our products to include more environmentally friendly ranges including compostable takeaway items and new eco-friendly cleaning solutions.

Green Electricity

We source 100% renewable energy.

The combined CO2 saving power of both our solar panels and wind turbines over a 20-year lifetime is the equivalent of the planting of over 100,000 trees!

LED Lighting

Many facilities have LED energy saving lightbulbs, all on timers, powered by our renewable energy, with automatic switch off when not in use.  Making us 100% light efficient.

Food Waste

Not fit for sale food items, such as dented food tins, are donated to charity, helping provide meals for our local community.

Sustainability

Philip Dennis is a member of the leading foodservice and marketing group, Caterforce.  As part of its buying policies, Caterforce is introducing significant sustainable changes to their own brand Chefs' Selection range including ingredients, animal welfare, plastics and palm oil.  Packaging reduction is also one of our highest priorities and as a part of our Caterforce Purchasing Group agreement we are encouraging suppliers to reduce packaging, in particular plastic, whenever possible.

CO2 Reduction Rates

Utilizing our solar panels and turbines significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions, helping to combat climate change.

Source kWh Output Per Year CO2 Reduction Per Annum
Philip Dennis Turbines x 2 4,200,000kWh 660,000kg
Philip Dennis Solar Panels 1,022,000kWh 16,000kg

Wind & Solar Power

Our wind turbines and solar panels power our alternators which in turn power our cutting-edge freezer systems at our depots.

We take pride in leading the way toward eco-friendly practices.  Additionally, our vehicles are equipped with aerodynamic canopies that further enhance efficiently, reducing fuel consumption by up to 10%

Wind Turbines

In 2012, the Dennis Family took a significant step towards sustainability by installing an 80-meter high, 500kW wind turbine at our Southwest depot.  With such positive results, we added a second turbine.

These turbines now generate 60% of our electricity needs.  This initiative is a key part of our ongoing commitment to protecting the environment.

Solar Power

We are thrilled to share that all three of our depots are now equipped with solar panels!

Combined, they can generate over an impressive 1000 kW of clean energy.  We are making a significant positive impact on the environment.

Together, our solar panels and turbines help us reduce millions of kilograms of CO2 emissions.
