Mothers Day Restaurant Treat

Mum’s the Word

Six Quick Tips to make Mother’s Day Special

Cheryl Hale, Account Manager in Oxford, shares her tips on making mums feel special this Mother’s Day, whilst generating both attention and profit to ensure you feel pretty good too.

Mini Treats

You may not need to promote a special offer but be ready to give a little. Even small gestures like a complimentary fudge square (SIDO2282) or brownie bite (CEFG0633) alongside a hot drink can foster a feel-good moment. A simple edible flower garnish would work well too.

Sharing is caring

Extend the sharing platter trend and offer something a little different to the traditional Sunday carvery. A ‘sharing joint’ of meat can bring dramatic effect when surrounded with trimmings and many busy modern-day mums will still appreciate the matriarchal role of carving at the table. Our Butchery Specialists can recommend various suitable cuts.

Elegant Efficiency

Afternoon tea may be elegant and dainty, but it’s still making a big impression and is an easy way to get creative this Mother’s Day. Enhance profit margin (you should be comfortably hitting 65%) with impressive time efficiency; try our delicate, assorted mini rolls (PACO0096), filled with chicken tikka (CHSA1029) and salad or prawn marie rose (CHSA1309), and thaw-and-serve solutions such as mini Danishes (LANT0024), banana and salted toffee mini cakes (HACC0307) and individual key lime cakes (HACC0311).

Bumper brunch

Combat any resistance to the usual two-course lunch by promoting the growing brunch trend. Presenting mum with a trendy selection of toppings to personalise her pancakes makes a refreshing alternative to set menus, and the concept can be reworked into evening desserts for even greater efficiency. Our American pancakes (CEFG0095), topped with crème fraiche (COCR0035) and raspberry compote (BEOP0140) provides a super-fast solution with a profit margin that lends itself well to a Mother’s Day special offer.

Huevos rancheros, a Mexican twist on baked eggs, is a simple, contemporary dish that holds great creative potential for Mother’s Day. Simply crack an egg into a chilli tomato salsa (or better still your own signature recipe) and serve with sourdough toast (PLPA2024) for dipping. Serve with a Bucks fizz, Virgin or Bloody Mary to complete the offer (tomato juice, FRJU0058).

Fruity special

Mocktails are widely appreciated nowadays and are a way to make mum feel special without the alcoholic content (whilst giving you a replacement profit avenue). Why not use a Frobisher’s Mango Juice (FROB0035), with Lemonade and summer fruits (GREE1035)?

Added extras

If you are promoting a set course menu, improve value perception by effortlessly slipping an extra course by way of our Champagne sorbet (CODD0522). Alternatively, you’ll find a little scoop in a small glass provides a swift amuse bouche or complimentary token on arrival!

Quick Marketing Tips:

Mother’s Day is the perfect time to run promotions with the underlying plan of improving your customer data, ready for later Easter and Christmas promotions. With mothers so often the leading influence on family bookings, don’t waste this chance to impress! A prize-draw is a straightforward way to entice email address submissions.

If you already have gift-vouchers, make sure you’re promoting them via social media. Equally, make sure they are visible to visiting mums, so that they leave with the perfect all-year gift solution for friends and family. Don’t have any? You’ll find online print shops make it a doddle from design to delivery.
